Welcome to the CAVES DE L'UZEGE website,
and welcome to our beautiful region !
Nestled between the Cevennes Mountain Range and Provence, deep within the Southern Garrigues ecology, unique to this region, which spans across the fierce Gardons. At equal distances from NIMES, ALES, and AVIGNON one finds the UZEGE; a land hearty and festive, with her capital UZES, and famous Duchy which was also the first Duchy of France.
A majestic territory, the pride of its people who have long been considered the cultivated amateurs of high gastronomy with rich and varied products such as Wine, Olives, Truffles and Pelardon Cheese, just to name a few.
And further on, the Cévennes Mountain Range with its local cheeses and Sweet Chestnuts, Oysters from the coast (The Thau Bassin), the Mediterranean Fish Rouille (Sete), and Brandade of Cod (Nimes), not to mention all the local culinary specialties based on Tapenades, with herbs of the Garrigues, garlic (Aioli) and other Picholine olives.
The CAVES DE L'UZEGE, a union of wine producers founded in 1973, encompasses 10 wine cooperatives along with 10 independent wine estates that produce in excess of 300,000 hectoliters (40,000,000 bottles) of wine annually.
Situated in Saint Quentin la Poterie, near UZES, the Caves de l'Uzege opened up a store in the 1980's selling its own products. Building on this success we have included other products from the region.
Today we offer around 500 products to the public. Our concept is simple: one basket we call the 'Panier Gourmand' which you fill to convene with your tastes and desires, or perhaps one of precomposed baskets.
With the 21st Century, in the era of the Internet, we must be present on the Web. This is why we wish to invite you now to take part in a tasting of a selection of our products with all the fine weather and hospitality that has always been a part of our culture here in the UZEGE.
